The Stiftung HUMOR HILFT HEILEN (HHH), founded in 2008 by Dr. med. Eckart von Hirschhausen, is a nationwide organization with the central goal of bringing more humanity and humor into the healthcare system.

HHH is committed to enabling encounters at eye level with a wink, especially in an increasingly profit-oriented healthcare system. The foundation emphasizes the importance of soul hygiene and human care to promote the enthusiasm and well-being of patients and medical staff[2][4].

• Clinic Clowns: Professionally trained clinic clowns visit patients and residents in hospitals, nursing homes, and palliative care units. They bring laughter and carefree moments to places where there is often little to laugh about. Currently, 30 clinic clowns are active in 26 facilities in the federal states of NRW, Rhineland-Palatinate, and Baden-Württemberg[2][4].

• Humor Workshops: HHH offers workshops for caregivers and medical staff that focus on stress reduction, perspective change, and mindfulness. These workshops have already reached over 18,000 caregivers and medical professionals and have psychologically strengthened over 2,500 nursing students[2][4].

• Research: The foundation supports and initiates research projects to evaluate the effectiveness of humor in healthcare. These projects are conducted in cooperation with universities and clinics[2][4].

HHH is involved in various initiatives to pursue its goals sustainably:

• Support through Donations: Since humor interventions are not yet available on prescription, the foundation relies on donations. Companies and individuals can contribute through donations so that even more people can benefit from the healing effects of humor[2][4].

• Cooperations and Networks: HHH collaborates with various organizations and institutions, such as the European Federation of Healthcare Clown Organizations (EFHCO) and Great Place to Work®, to enhance the positive impact of humor in society[5].

• Research Projects and Evaluation: Through continuous evaluation and research, it is ensured that the methods and approaches of HHH are effective and scientifically based[2][4].

HHH stands for connection, community, and solidarity. By participating in trade fairs, congresses, and other events such as the German Nursing Day, the foundation advocates for the appreciation and support of caregivers. Companies can become part of a community that advocates for more humor, resilience, and joy of life through corporate donations[4][5].
