
The Sachverständigenrat für Umweltfragen (SRU), or German Advisory Council on the Environment, is an independent expert body that has provided scientific advice to the German federal government on environmental policy since 1972. The organization analyzes environmental conditions, identifies negative trends, and develops solutions for sustainable environmental policy. With over 50 years of experience and an interdisciplinary team of seven professors, the SRU significantly contributes to the judgment formation of environmental policy actors and public opinion. Its work includes statements on climate, biodiversity, and the circular economy.
