Linke Medienakademie

The Linke Medienakademie e.V. (LiMA) is a politically independent, non-profit association for political media education based in Berlin. Founded in 2008 as an initiative of the Federal Working Group of the Red Reporters of the Party Die LINKE, LiMA has developed into a central actor for emancipatory and critical media work.

The main mission of LiMA is to support people in standing up against right-wing polemics, discrimination, and exploitation in public. The association achieves this by promoting critical and emancipatory perspectives in the media. LiMA brings together media creators from the pluralistic left and progressive sphere and fosters networking within these groups[2][3].

LiMA offers a variety of educational events, including seminars, discussions, and congresses. These events are collectively designed by engaged individuals from movements, journalism, and media work, and take place partly on-site, but also frequently digitally or in hybrid formats. LiMA has developed innovative methods for educational events, particularly in the digital realm, to enable barrier-free participation[2][3].

A highlight of LiMA's activities is the annually held LiMA Week, the largest media-political training week in the emancipatory left spectrum nationwide. This week provides a platform for hundreds of interested media creators, activists, and people from civic engagement to convey practical skills for left and emancipatory media work[3].

LiMA is committed to a sustainable and transparent way of working. The association is working on documentation for membership in the Initiative Transparent Civil Society and places great importance on the quality and accessibility of its events. Through technical support, free training for instructors, and its own feedback system, the quality of educational offerings is ensured[3].

LiMA is closely networked with various partners such as the Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung, the Bremen Rosa-Luxemburg Initiative, and other organizations. These partnerships enable the implementation of training offers in many federal states and achieve a wide reach. The LiMA community, consisting of media activists, critical journalists, and media creators, plays a central role in shaping and conducting the events[2][3][4].

The Linke Medienakademie e.V. is thus an important actor in the field of political media education, advocating for justice, critical perspectives, and the strengthening of emancipatory media work.
