    About Us

    LIBS, the Lesben Informations- und Beratungsstelle e.V. in Frankfurt am Main, has been a central anchor point for lesbian and bi+sexual girls and women as well as non-binary individuals since 1992. The association emerged from the women's and lesbian movement of the 1980s and 1990s and has continuously developed since then.

    Mission and Values

    The main mission of LIBS is to counteract the causes and consequences of societal discrimination and exclusion of lesbian and bi+sexual girls and women as well as non-binary individuals. The association strives for a world where every person can live their sexual and gender identity without discrimination and exclusion. LIBS promotes the acceptance and equality of different ways of life and strengthens the visibility and self-determination of the lesbian community.

    Services and Offers

    LIBS offers a wide range of services, including:

    • Consultation: Personal consultation for lesbian and bi+sexual girls and women as well as non-binary individuals, especially regarding violence, first romantic relationships, and issues in family, school, or work.
    • Group Offers: Guided groups, self-help groups, and special meetings such as the JuLe meeting for girls and young women between 14 and 25 years old.
    • Training and Events: Regular training and consultations for professionals as well as public relations and events for awareness and education.
    • Online Consultation: Email and chat consultation for easier accessibility.

    Sustainability Goals and Initiatives

    LIBS is involved in various projects to expand and improve consultation and support. These include:

    • Action Plan for Acceptance and Diversity (APAV): Funded by the Hessian Ministry for Social Affairs and Integration, LIBS is working on expanding consultation for bi+sexual women and non-binary individuals.
    • State Coordination Office for LSBT in Old Age: In cooperation with the AIDS help organization, LIBS is establishing a state coordination office for LSBT individuals in old age.
    • Organizational Development Process: LIBS reflects on internal structures intersectionally and critically regarding power to create a more inclusive and just organization.

    Future and Development

    LIBS remains in constant motion and development. The association adapts to the needs of the community and continuously expands its offers and topics. Through funding from the Women's Department and the Youth and Social Welfare Office of the City of Frankfurt am Main, LIBS can continue and expand its important work.

    LIBS is a vibrant and dynamic place that meets the needs and challenges of the lesbian and bi+sexual community as well as non-binary individuals and advocates for a more inclusive and accepting society.
