Crisis Action

Crisis Action is an innovative and influential organization dedicated to protecting civilians in armed conflicts and preventing mass atrocities.

The mission of Crisis Action is to create a world where no one has to fear losing their home, their livelihood, their loved ones, or their life due to war. The organization advocates for governments and international institutions to fulfill their responsibility to protect civilians and ensure humanitarian assistance[1][2].

Crisis Action works behind the scenes to coordinate effective collective actions that bring together humanitarian, human rights, and peace organizations, as well as other actors such as businesses, politicians, and leaders of various faith communities. These coalitions aim to influence decision-makers to protect civilians in war zones. Current campaigns include efforts in Yemen, the Sahel, Ethiopia, and Ukraine[2].

Crisis Action seeks systemic changes to prevent wars and ensure that the political advocacy of civil society is coordinated. The organization has already achieved significant successes, such as preventing attacks on the port of Hodeidah in Yemen, ensuring UN aid convoys in Syria, and brokering ceasefires in South Sudan[2].
