About AWO Mettmann
editThe AWO Mettmann is a local association steeped in tradition, founded in 1949, which, as part of the Arbeiterwohlfahrt overall association, is dedicated to diverse social tasks in Mettmann and the surrounding area. The focus is on the AWO-Treff, an open and barrier-free meeting place for citizens of all ages, especially for older people.
The AWO-Treff offers a wide range of offers, including informal meetings, joint afternoons and a lunch table with freshly prepared meals every day. In addition, there are courses and workshops in the PC café, which are aimed at people from Mettmann, Wülfrath, Ratingen, Erkrath, Dornap, Düssel, Velbert, Gruiten and Haan. The offer includes digital photo editing, photo book creation, Windows refresher courses and introductions to smartphone use.
The AWO Ortsverein Mettmann is committed to promoting participation and social justice. The diverse offers in the AWO-Treff make an important contribution to strengthening social cohesion in the region. The association attaches importance to efficient, transparent and reliable work, in which the needs of the people are the focus.
Particular attention is paid to supporting older people, for example through the lunch table and the PC courses, which help them to participate in social life and expand their skills.
The AWO Mettmann is also committed to sustainability. In cooperation with an energy supplier, the AWO-Treff provides a charging station for e-bikes in order to contribute to the promotion of environmentally friendly mobility.
