editThe ZBW – Leibniz Information Centre for Economics is a research-based information infrastructure for economics and a member of the Leibniz Association. With the motto "The world's knowledge in economics. Qualified. Organised. Accessible." the ZBW positions itself as a central point of contact for researchers, students and practitioners in the field of economics.
The ZBW houses the world's largest collection of economic literature and offers comprehensive services for researching, accessing and using specialist information. The EconBiz subject portal enables the search for economic literature worldwide and offers access to millions of online documents.
A central concern of the ZBW is the promotion of Open Science. It advocates nationally and internationally for open access to research results, conducts research on Open Science, develops innovative services and is actively involved in the Open Access transformation in economics. The ZBW attaches great importance to fairness and openness in science and supports researchers in implementing Open Science practices.
The ZBW operates modern libraries at the Kiel and Hamburg locations, which serve as learning and meeting places. It offers personal advice, online services and training courses to promote the transfer of knowledge between economic research, society, business and politics.
The ZBW is also involved in research on digital information infrastructures, Web Science, Artificial Intelligence and Digital Economics. The aim is to develop innovative services and enable free access to research. It is a competent contact for economic research data and related technologies.
