History and Development

The WENTRUP Gallery, founded in 2004 in Berlin, is a central figure in the international art scene. Established by Jan Wentrup, the gallery was initially conceived as a response to the young, diverse, and international art scene in Berlin. Since 2009, the gallery has been jointly run by Jan and his wife Tina Wentrup. Over the years, the gallery has relocated several times, from a converted horse stable to a former couture factory building in Kreuzberg and finally to a listed brick building in the style of New Objectivity from the 1920s. Additionally, the gallery opened further locations, including WENTRUP II in Charlottenburg, WENTRUP AM FEENTEICH in Hamburg, and most recently WENTRUP VENEZIA in Venice[1][2][5].

The gallery's portfolio includes a diverse group of 20 cross-disciplinary and trans-generational artists of global origin. These artists have participated in numerous internationally renowned museum exhibitions, including the Venice Biennial, documenta, Sharjah Biennial, Whitney Biennial, and many more. The gallery regularly presents exhibitions in architecturally remarkable locations, such as the current branch in Venice, which is housed in a historic building that previously served as the studio of Italian fashion designer Giuliana Camerino[1][4].
