Walter Blüchert Stiftung

The Walter Blüchert Stiftung, founded in 2007 by Gunter Thielen in the name of the financial broker and publisher Walter F. Blüchert, is dedicated to supporting people in need and transitional situations. The mission of the foundation is: "Help that arrives" – it aims to help people develop their potential and successfully participate in social life.

The foundation is involved in a variety of projects aimed at overcoming social barriers. The main projects include:

• Arrived: A program that supports young refugees and newcomers in developing a future perspective.
• High Performance: An initiative that promotes academics with refugee status.
• We2: A bonding training for single parents and their children.
• School – What’s Next: A competence platform for young students before transitioning to secondary school or vocational training.

In addition, the foundation supports primary school children, young refugees, single parents, and seniors who serve as mentors for young people.

The Walter Blüchert Stiftung collaborates with proven project partners whose offerings are scientifically supported and demonstrably effective. The foundation develops and disseminates best-practice models that are to be rolled out nationwide. The goal is to create permeable, supportive, and promoting structures that enable all people to participate fairly in social and economic life.

The foundation pursues exclusively charitable purposes and focuses on improving the living conditions of individuals who require assistance due to their physical, mental, or emotional state or their economic hardship.

The Walter Blüchert Stiftung is a legally capable foundation under civil law with a foundation capital of 200 million euros. The foundation is based in Hamburg, while the operational work began at the administrative headquarters in Gütersloh in autumn 2012. The board, led by Gunter Thielen and his deputy Ingrid Kramer, is responsible for the development of statutory projects and their financing. The foundation council, consisting of Reto Mengiardi, supervises the board's activities.

The Walter Blüchert Stiftung is one of the financially strongest German foundations, distinguished by its comprehensive and sustainable initiatives for promoting social participation and supporting people in need. Through its diverse programs and close collaboration with project partners, the foundation makes a significant contribution to welfare and the overcoming of social barriers.
