Verein Herberge zur Heimat e. V.

The Herberge zur Heimat in Hildesheim is a facility for people who have become homeless, providing both inpatient and outpatient support services. Its concept is based on a future-oriented approach, in which new opportunities are jointly sought to offer residents an improved living situation.

• Stationary Assistance: The Herberge offers accommodation for the homeless, including short-term accommodation in so-called sleeping cubicles.
• Outpatient Assistance: This includes supportive measures that enable residents to live more independently.
• Tagestreff Lobby: A meeting place that offers support and community.
• Mitmach.Werkstatt: A platform for creative and craft activities.

The mission of the Herberge zur Heimat is to provide homeless people with a temporary home and to support them in improving their living situation. The work is resident-oriented, with those affected being regarded as experts in their own life situation.

A key goal is to promote social integration and participation. This includes initiatives such as the regular "Baumeisterfrühstück", where residents, employees and neighbors work together to shape the facility. In addition, the "Gast.Haus im Quartier" concept was developed to make the Herberge an open house for the neighborhood. This project was funded by the Bundesministerium für Umwelt, Naturschutz, Bau und Reaktorsicherheit. The Herberge also relies on participation and cooperation with external partners to improve the quality of life of its residents.

Through such activities, the Herberge zur Heimat not only wants to create physical spaces, but also a social platform where the voices of those affected can be heard.
