Background and Career
editBorn on October 25, 1987, in Bremen, Sonja Eichwede completed her Abitur at Kippenberg Gymnasium Bremen and also received an American high school diploma after a year in the USA. She studied law at Eberhardt Karls University Tübingen and completed an Erasmus scholarship at the University of Oslo. After her legal clerkship at the Hanseatic Higher Regional Court of Bremen, which also included positions at the German Embassy in Nairobi and the Permanent Mission of the Federal Republic of Germany to the United Nations in New York, she worked as a trainee at the Council of Europe in Strasbourg. Before her election to the Bundestag, she worked as the regional manager of SPD-Brandenburg and as a research assistant in the Bundestag office of Dagmar Ziegler. Additionally, she served as a judge in the ordinary jurisdiction of the State of Brandenburg, a position that has been on hold since her election to the Bundestag[3].
