Scientists For Future

Scientists for Future (S4F) is an independent and voluntary community of scientists, researchers, and academics from all disciplines. Founded in the context of the Fridays for Future movement, we unite through our deep concern for our shared future and our commitment to scientifically based actions for climate and environmental protection.

Our main mission is to communicate and disseminate scientific knowledge about climate change and ecological disturbances. We strive to provide the public, politicians, decision-makers, and educational institutions with reliable and recognized scientific data. Our self-organization principle as a grassroots democratic movement is based on scientific evidence and our human conscience.

• Inform and Communicate: We inform and communicate scientific content on climate change and ecological disturbances.
• Research and Education: We provide research findings on climate change and its impacts on nature and humanity and promote the understanding of sustainable solutions.
• Networking: We connect international scientists and people to enable mutual support and participation.

Scientists for Future is engaged in various areas to address the urgent challenges of climate change and the ecological crisis:

• Climate Protection and Sustainability: We support citizens, governments, and organizations in implementing evidence-based climate and nature conservation measures. We demand ambitious and robust policies that drastically reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote the restoration process of ecosystems[2][4][5].

• Scientific Support: We evaluate current developments based on scientific findings, point out correlations, identify potential conflicts of interest, and firmly contradict false claims. We support scientifically based demands from other groups within the Fridays for Future movement[2][4][5].

• Education and Awareness: Through events in schools, universities, companies, and public spaces, as well as through traditional and digital media, we contribute to education and awareness. Examples include the annual "Climate in the School Symposium" (KISS), which focuses on embedding education for sustainable development in the education system[2][4].

• Political Advocacy: We participate in political debate and assess political programs and bills for their scientific basis and their impact on the environment and climate protection. Examples include analyses of laws such as the German Supply Chain Act or EU climate policy[1][4][5].

The climate and ecological crisis knows no borders, and therefore we strive for a global presence. We support and promote the establishment of new national, regional, and local S4F groups and invite all scientists to engage in an honest and unbiased scientific process[2][4].

Scientists for Future is a dynamic and diverse community committed to a sustainable future. Through our scientific expertise, our educational work, and our political advocacy, we work to support the necessary transformations at the political, economic, technical, social, cultural, and personal levels. We are convinced that only through collective action and scientifically based measures can a livable future for all be ensured.
