ROCK YOUR LIFE - An Initiative for Educational Justice and Potential Development
editKey Products and Services
editROCK YOUR LIFE is a non-profit educational initiative that has been promoting educational justice and potential development since 2008. The core of the organization is the one-on-one mentoring program, where students are accompanied by university students as mentors for at least one year. This program aims to improve the academic performance, social skills, and job market opportunities of the students and to strengthen their self-confidence. In addition to mentoring, ROCK YOUR LIFE also offers programs for companies and teachers to ensure comprehensive support[1][3][5].
Main Mission and Values
editThe mission of ROCK YOUR LIFE is to promote educational justice and equal opportunities, regardless of the social, economic, and family background of the students. The initiative is based on the belief that every person has a unique potential and that the development of this potential is the key to happier individuals and a better social coexistence. ROCK YOUR LIFE is committed to ensuring that all young people have the opportunity to pursue their goals and realize their dreams[1][3][5].
Sustainability Goals and Initiatives
editROCK YOUR LIFE has set ambitious sustainability goals. By collaborating with partner companies, young people are given early insights into the working world, and internships and training positions are provided. The initiative also works with various foundations and organizations, such as the BMW Foundation Herbert Quandt, the Vodafone Foundation, and the Karl Schlecht Foundation, to achieve its goals. ROCK YOUR LIFE is part of the eleven community, which advocates for equal opportunities for children, young people, and families and supports organizations with targeted funding and capacity building[1][3][4].
Voluntary Engagement and Community
editA central aspect of ROCK YOUR LIFE is voluntary engagement. Over 9,300 volunteers and about 7,500 students at 51 locations in Germany, Switzerland, and the Netherlands are actively involved in the initiative. Annually, participants contribute over 196,500 hours of volunteer work. This community is crucial for the success of the program and helps to level the disadvantages faced by young people due to their background[1][3][5].
Effectiveness and Successes
editThe effectiveness of ROCK YOUR LIFE's mentoring program was confirmed in a study by the ifo Institute in 2023. The study shows that the program significantly improves the academic performance, social skills, and job market opportunities of the participants. About 84% of the mentees in Switzerland find a follow-up solution after the program, whether in the form of an apprenticeship or a study place[4][5].
With its comprehensive work and strong volunteer engagement, ROCK YOUR LIFE sets important impulses for a fairer and more equitable educational society.
