    The Landesarbeitsgemeinschaft SELBSTHILFE behinderter Menschen Baden-Württemberg e.V. (LAG SELBSTHILFE) is an independent working group of disability self-help, founded in 1987. As an umbrella organization, we represent over 60 self-help associations in Baden-Württemberg, which represent more than 150,000 people with disabilities and chronic illnesses as well as their relatives.

    Key Products and Services

    • Implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the Federal Participation Act: We are working intensively to strengthen the rights of people with disabilities in all areas of life and to promote their equal participation.
    • Advisory Centers: Since 2018, we have been operating seven EUTB offices (Complementary Independent Participation Counseling) in Baden-Württemberg, particularly in rural areas, to provide independent counseling options.
    • Working Groups and Committees: We organize working groups and coordination meetings for inclusion and the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in all areas of society, such as education, the world of work, housing, mobility and accessibility, as well as in healthcare and in culture, leisure, and sports.
    • Political Influence: We are a member of various social and health policy committees and working groups at the state and federal level, such as the State Disability Advisory Board of Baden-Württemberg and the Participation Advisory Board of Baden-Württemberg.

    The LAG SELBSTHILFE represents the interests of all indication areas and consolidates their concerns. Our mission is to improve the equal participation of people with disabilities and chronic illnesses in all areas of life. We advocate for an inclusive society in which all people can participate equally and without barriers.

    Sustainability Goals and Initiatives

    • Inclusive Educational Landscape: We strive for a new beginning towards a truly inclusive educational landscape.
    • Accessibility: We are working towards comprehensive accessibility in all areas of life, including digital accessibility.
    • Healthcare: We promote an interdisciplinary and intersectoral healthcare system for all.
    • Employment Opportunities: We advocate for the creation of additional employment opportunities for people with disabilities in businesses.
    • State Action Plan: We support and accompany the implementation of the State Action Plan 2.0 for the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in Baden-Württemberg, which was adopted by the state government on October 22, 2024.

    Current Initiatives

    • Special Conference and General Assembly: A special conference on inclusive disaster preparedness and a general assembly will take place on November 23, 2024.
    • LAG Dialogue: We regularly invite to online dialogues, e.g., on the topic of "Loneliness" on November 12, 2024.
    • State Poverty Week: We participate in the events of the State Poverty Week and advocate for the fight against poverty.

    The LAG SELBSTHILFE Baden-Württemberg e.V. is closely networked with the umbrella organizations of organized self-help in other federal states and at the federal level to ensure regular exchange and effective representation of interests.
