editIREES – Institut für Ressourceneffizienz und Energiestrategien – is a renowned research and consulting institute dedicated to sustainable energy and resource use. With interdisciplinary teams of energy experts, economists and social scientists, IREES develops innovative solutions for companies, energy-intensive production processes and the building sector.
The focus is on the social science research of the Energiewende, energy management and the development of energy system models as well as energy policy and technologies. IREES analyzes market barriers, evaluates technical solutions and creates sectoral energy scenarios. A special focus is on the development of energy and climate protection strategies for neighborhoods, companies, cities and countries.
IREES offers a wide range of services, including energy system modeling, the development of climate neutrality networks, policy advice and municipal heat planning. The institute supports municipalities in decarbonizing their heat supply through inventory analyses, potential analyses and the creation of implementation plans for a climate-neutral heat supply by 2045 at the latest.
IREES is convinced that people and companies can be enthusiastic about climate protection and energy efficiency measures and that a sustainable use of energy and resources can be achieved on a global level.
