
The Institut für die Geschichte der deutschen Juden (IGdJ), established in 1966, is a public law foundation in Hamburg, Germany. It was the first research institution in Germany solely dedicated to German-Jewish history. The Institute reconstructs German-Jewish existence from the Early Modern period to the post-war era, fostering scientific practice and supporting young researchers. The IGdJ offers extensive digital resources, including online exhibitions and databases, and is preparing for its 60th anniversary in 2026 with a major conference.
