About ANU Bayern e.V.
editThe Working Group on Nature and Environmental Education (ANU) Bayern e.V. is a registered, non-profit association and one of eleven state associations under the umbrella of the ANU Federal Association. With currently 292 members (as of 2024), ANU Bayern is committed to networking actors and institutions in non-formal environmental education and education for sustainable development (BNE). The association offers qualification opportunities through training and further education and represents the interests of its members at the political level.

editANU Bayern e.V. improves the public perception of environmental education and BNE, anchors these in various educational areas, and advises politics, administration, and business on educational issues. The association networks environmental education institutions and freelance individuals, qualifies professionals, and organizes conferences, workshop meetings, and seminars for experience exchange. In addition, ANU Bayern offers training and further education opportunities for young people through internships, the Voluntary Ecological Year, and the Federal Volunteer Service.
Mission and Values
editThe main mission of ANU Bayern e.V. is to promote education for sustainable development that motivates people to adopt environmentally friendly and sustainable behavior in private, professional, and school contexts. The association is committed to strengthening the broad impact of environmental education/BNE in Bavaria and is involved in the Bavarian Climate Alliance as well as in state and nationwide working groups.
Sustainability Goals and Initiatives
editANU Bayern e.V. is actively involved in the implementation of the model project "Klimanetze lernende nachhaltige Region" and supports the further development of the quality seal "Umweltbildung.Bayern". This seal recognizes qualified environmental education and BNE in Bavaria and is awarded to non-profit institutions, self-employed individuals, and networks that have demonstrated their competencies in non-formal educational work. The holders of the quality seal conduct over 30,000 events annually with over 860,000 participants and actively shape BNE in Bavaria.
Engagement and Networking
editANU Bayern e.V. promotes networking and active participation in networks as a prerequisite for quality work in environmental education. The association works closely with various partners, including the State Association for Bird and Nature Conservation, the Bund Naturschutz in Bayern, and the State Ministry for the Environment and Consumer Protection. ANU Bayern e.V. is committed to promoting sustainable development in Bavaria through its activities and initiatives and enriching the educational landscape in the field of environmental education and BNE.
