The Ecosystem Value Alliance Foundation (eva foundation) is an independent foundation under civil law based in Bonn, dedicated to environmental and climate protection in the interest of the common good. Its main goal is to value ecosystem services to finance the preservation and restoration of ecosystems, thereby securing a sustainable future. The foundation develops scientifically based, digital, and scalable standards that enable the generation of tradable certificates. These certificates generate revenue that flows directly into the adaptation and preservation of forests.

The eva foundation offers the Forest Climate Standard, a quality standard specifically developed for Germany that takes into account regional requirements for a climate-friendly and future-proof forest. This standard allows forest owners to generate direct income from the valuation of the ecosystem services of their forests through the sale of certificates. The Forest Climate Standard has been available in full version since October 2023 and is also suitable for smaller forest areas, thereby reducing transaction costs.

The mission of the eva foundation is to create a future in which people live in balance with nature and operate within planetary boundaries. The foundation is committed to making it worthwhile for everyone to preserve nature. This is achieved through the development of standards based on UN guidelines that are specifically tailored to the requirements in Germany. The foundation's values include sustainability, transparency, and scientific grounding.

The eva foundation is actively engaged in climate protection and the sustainable management of forests. By applying the Forest Climate Standard, the amount of CO2 storage in Germany is secured, and voluntary emissions trading for domestic forests is utilized. The foundation promotes reforestation and the preservation of existing forests to enhance biodiversity and protect natural resources. The Forest Climate Council, a multi-stakeholder dialogue, brings together interests and experiences from the fields of forest, market, science & technology, as well as public & civil society, to support the development of the Forest Climate Standard.

Behind the eva foundation are motivated employees with expertise in forestry and agricultural science, standardization, certification, politics, strategy, and communication. The foundation works closely with international experts to develop simple applications, digital processes, and a scalable design. Through the use of innovative approaches and the commitment of stakeholders, progress in climate and environmental protection is advanced.
