Historical Background
editCBM was founded by Pastor Ernst J. Christoffel, who established a home for blind and otherwise disabled orphaned children in Turkey in 1908. Despite numerous challenges, including two world wars, Christoffel continued his work and laid the foundation for an organization that is now a global leader in development aid for people with disabilities.
CBM remains true to Pastor Christoffel's vision and continuously works to improve the living conditions of people with disabilities worldwide and to provide them access to essential health services.
