About Bundespreis Ecodesign
editThe Bundespreis Ecodesign is the highest state award for ecological design in Germany. Since its founding in 2012, the award has recognized innovative and sustainable products, services, and concepts that make a significant contribution to the ecological transformation of our economy and society. The competition is aimed at companies, start-ups, design agencies, architecture and engineering firms, as well as research institutes and non-profit organizations. International submissions are also welcome, provided they are aimed at the European market.

editThe Bundespreis Ecodesign seeks durable and circular products, processes, and systems. Submissions can be made in four categories: Product, Service, Concept, and Young Talent. Not only physical products but also services and forward-looking model projects are considered. The competition promotes the development of ideas that are still in the conceptual phase and provides students and graduates with a platform to present their work.

editThe Bundespreis Ecodesign is supported by the Federal Ministry for the Environment and the Federal Environment Agency and offers the award winners numerous benefits, including the use of the official logo for communication purposes and the production of an image clip. The award ceremony takes place in the light courts of the BMUV and attracts around 200 guests from politics, business, and design. The award is not only a recognition of outstanding achievements in the field of ecological design but also an incentive for companies and organizations to further develop and implement their sustainability strategies.
