Bundesarbeitsgemeinschaft Täterarbeit Häusliche Gewalt
The
Bundesarbeitsgemeinschaft Täterarbeit Häusliche Gewalt e.V.
editThe Bundesarbeitsgemeinschaft Täterarbeit Häusliche Gewalt e.V. (BAG TäHG) is a pro-feminist umbrella organization that has been advocating for the professionalization and networking of perpetrator intervention facilities in Germany since 2007.
Key Products and Services
editThe BAG TäHG unites 91 perpetrator intervention facilities that offer various counseling services for individuals who exercise or have exercised violence in their current or former partnerships. These services include group training and individual counseling aimed at reflecting on and changing violent behavior. The programs include at least three individual sessions to review accountability and group capability, followed by a standard of 25 group sessions where alternative action strategies, emergency plans, and understanding of personal victim experiences and gender roles are learned[4].
Main Mission and Values
editThe main mission of the BAG TäHG is to prevent further acts of violence and protect victims of domestic violence. This is achieved through perpetrator work that prioritizes the safety of those affected and holds perpetrators accountable for their actions. The work is guided by the standards of the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth and advocates for the implementation of the Istanbul Convention. The BAG TäHG represents a gender-sensitive approach and distances itself from anti-feminist positions as well as other forms of discrimination such as racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, and ableism[2][3].
Sustainability Goals and Initiatives
editA central goal of the BAG TäHG is the long-term prevention of domestic violence and stalking. This is achieved through inter-institutional cooperation alliances with the judiciary, police, women's support facilities, and child and youth protection services. The BAG TäHG is committed to the professionalization of perpetrator work, promotes networking among members, and advocates for the transformation and dismantling of discriminatory structures underlying domestic violence. Through project funding from the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth, such as the project "Gender Equality-Oriented Perpetrator Work as Victim Protection," the work is further developed and professionalized[2][3][4].
Additional Information
editThe BAG TäHG works closely with various institutions and authorities to ensure comprehensive violence prevention that goes beyond acute crisis intervention. Its member facilities offer counseling programs tailored to the specific needs of participants, aiming to break cycles of violence and provide a way out of violent behavior for those who perpetrate it[4].
Through its work, the BAG TäHG makes an important contribution to creating a society free from gender-based violence and advocates for a culture of accountability and respect for the boundaries of others.
