Sankofa is a trilingual (German, French, English) parent-run daycare center for children between one and six years old, with a nursery and a preschool section. Sankofa offers a safe space for children of African and Afro-diasporic origin, where they can develop freely and cultivate healthy self-esteem. In our educational work, we place particular emphasis on learning materials that resonate with children of African and Afro-diasporic origin and reflect the diversity of different life experiences. Other key elements include nature-based and cultural experiences: regular excursions to the forest, as well as visits to the theater, cinema, library, and other cultural events, are part of our daily routine.
At Sankofa, children learn to interact with each other and their environment in a sensitive and respectful manner. This warm and loving environment requires empathetic educators. We are currently seeking a qualified, caring, open-minded, and cooperative individual for our early childhood program.
What we expect:
- State-recognized qualification as an educator
- fluent knowledge of German and English or French
- Ability to interact with children in an empathetic, caring and respectful manner
- Willingness to cooperate within the team
- Willingness to further build and develop our parent-run daycare center.
Desirable:
- Knowledge in early childhood education
- Experience and competence in preschool work
- Knowledge in the Berlin education program
- Interested in conceptual work for Sankofa
