editThe Abwasserverband Tegernseer Tal is a special-purpose association responsible for the wastewater disposal and treatment of the region around the Tegernsee. Founded in 1956, the association's central task is to protect the Tegernsee and its unique ecology. It operates an extensive network of sewage and rainwater canals as well as a wastewater treatment plant in Gmund to treat the wastewater of approximately 28,000 residents and 370,000 guests annually.
