The Zukunft – Umwelt – Gesellschaft (ZUG) gGmbH is a federally owned, non-profit organization that has acted as the central project sponsor for the protection of the environment, nature, and climate since its founding in September 2017. As a service provider for the federal government, ZUG develops and manages a variety of funding programs and strategic projects on behalf of various federal ministries, particularly the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV), the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK), and the Federal Foreign Office (AA)[2][3].

ZUG has about 950 employees at its locations in Berlin, Bonn, and Cottbus and possesses a wide range of expertise, including funding management, law, engineering, political and social sciences, and communication.
