Mission and Values
editThe main mission of the ZdK is to give a voice to Catholic believers in Germany and to actively shape the church and society. The ZdK advocates for solidarity, justice, and the promotion of the common good. It strives to strengthen the presence of the Gospel in the world and to reform the structures of the Catholic Church, particularly regarding the prevention of abuse.
Key Initiatives and Topics
editThe ZdK is active in a variety of areas, including democracy, gender equality, interreligious dialogue, and sustainable development. It promotes dialogue between different religious communities and advocates for the equality of all genders and sexual orientations. A central concern is the dignified design of asylum and migration policy, as well as the promotion of participation opportunities for young people.
Sustainability Goals
editSustainability and global responsibility are essential components of the work of the ZdK. The ZdK aims to make a positive contribution to sustainable development through its initiatives and resolutions.

The General Assembly is the highest body and sets the guidelines for the work of the ZdK. The Presidency, consisting of the President, Vice Presidents, and the Secretary General, represents the ZdK externally. The General Secretariat ensures the implementation of resolutions and the handling of ongoing business.
Engagement in the Synodal Path
editSince 2019, the ZdK, together with the German Bishops' Conference, has been on the Synodal Path to reform the Catholic Church and address structures that promote abuse. The Synodal Committee, established in 2023, is an expression of this commitment and unwavering solidarity with the victims of sexual abuse.
The ZdK remains a central actor in German civil society, advocating for a just and sustainable future by bringing the values of the Christian faith into societal and political discussions.
