    About Hajusom e.V.

Hajusom e.V. is a center for transnational arts in Hamburg that has served as a platform for artistic and social innovations since 1999. Founded by young refugees, Hajusom has developed into a renowned performance ensemble that has brought over 400 young people with and without refugee experience to the stage. The ensemble works in close collaboration with international artists and institutions such as Kampnagel Hamburg and FFT Düsseldorf to create transdisciplinary performances that address themes such as globalization and transculturality.

The mission of Hajusom is to contribute to decolonization and the discussion of European migration policy through artistic expressions. The center stands for a unique combination of artistic quality, political activism, and social engagement. Hajusom promotes the artistic development of young people, especially those with a migration background, and provides them with the opportunity to express their experiences and thoughts in creative projects.

A central component of Hajusom's work is the LAB, a space for young people and young adults to experiment artistically and grow. Here, experiences turn into texts, thoughts into melodies, and a whim into an entire choreography. Experienced artists support participants in discovering artistic tools and expressing their personalities. The LAB also offers a mentoring program that provides support in all areas of life.

Hajusom is also strongly committed to sustainability and social justice. The organization follows the principle of "Each One Teach One," where experienced members of the ensemble act as bridge persons for newcomers. This emancipatory practice aims to empower participants and foster a solidarity community.

Through numerous performances, workshops, and public events, Hajusom contributes to the promotion of diversity and tolerance in society. The center is a vibrant place of exchange and networking, where scholars, activists, and artists come together to discuss current discourses and develop new perspectives.

Hajusom e.V. is not only an artistic center but also a place of encounter and dialogue that brings together people from different backgrounds and gives them a voice. With a strong focus on artistic innovation and social responsibility, Hajusom remains a significant player in the cultural landscape of Hamburg and beyond.
