World Childhood Foundation

The World Childhood Foundation was founded in 1999 by Her Majesty Queen Silvia of Sweden to protect every child's right to a safe and loving childhood. The foundation works globally against sexual violence and abuse of children and collaborates with over 60 partner organizations in 14 countries, including South Africa, Thailand, Nepal, Moldova, Ukraine, and Belarus. The foundation's vision is to create a world where every child can experience a childhood free from abuse and violence.

The World Childhood Foundation promotes innovative and sustainable projects for the prevention and intervention of child abuse and sexual violence. A central project is the Childhood House, which embraces the idea of the Scandinavian "Barnahus." These child-friendly, multidisciplinary centers provide comprehensive and coordinated support for children who have been victims of violence. The Childhood Houses bring together all necessary professions under one roof to ensure optimal care for affected children and minimize the risk of re-traumatization.

The main mission of the World Childhood Foundation is to raise awareness of children's rights and improve their living conditions. The foundation advocates for children to be educated about their rights and aims to reduce abuse, exploitation, and neglect through preventive measures. The foundation's values are based on respect, protection, and the promotion of a safe environment for all children.

The World Childhood Foundation aims to sustainably improve child protection. This is achieved through the development of new initiatives with high future potential and the networking of projects with actors from science and politics. The foundation relies on integrated solution approaches that have been proven to be the most effective in preventing abuse or helping affected children. An example of such an initiative is the implementation of Childhood Houses in Germany, which provide a child-friendly and safe care structure in cases of child abuse.

The World Childhood Foundation relies on donations to continue its work and provide more children with a safe childhood. Supporters can contribute by purchasing Childhood bracelets or making direct donations. Each bracelet symbolically represents a UN children's right, and the proceeds go entirely to the foundation's work.

The World Childhood Foundation remains true to its mission, with pioneering spirit and in collaboration with international partners, to create a world where children can grow up safe and protected.
