WomenStrong International is a non-political, non-governmental, and tax-exempt private operating foundation dedicated to promoting gender equality and empowering women and girls worldwide. The organization focuses on supporting and strengthening local, women-led organizations in urban and peri-urban areas.

The main mission of WomenStrong International is to center the work of local feminist leaders and enhance their ability to bring about meaningful change in their communities. The organization advocates for the health, safety, education, and economic security of women and girls and works to create a world where all women and girls can thrive[2].

WomenStrong International offers a variety of support measures, including:

• Organizational Strengthening and Technical Support: The organization helps women-led organizations expand their networks, visibility, and funding opportunities.
• Trust-based Grantmaking: WomenStrong International employs a trust-based approach to philanthropy that allows partners to work without bureaucratic hurdles and reporting requirements. This approach promotes equality in partnerships and enables partners to take strategic risks[4].
• Learning and Exchange: The organization operates a Learning Lab and organizes events to promote exchange among partners and explore shared solutions and challenges.

WomenStrong International focuses on four interconnected areas:

• Violence Prevention: Strengthening and promoting solutions developed by local partners to eliminate violence against women and girls.

Starting in November 2024, WomenStrong International is actively seeking local, women-led organizations addressing climate and environmental justice issues in urban and peri-urban areas with a gender-responsive approach. This initiative aims to strengthen the capacities of these organizations and support their work in these critical areas[4].
