    from Berlin
WIR MACHEN DAS (wearedoingit e.V.) was founded in 2015 from a network of 100 women from culture, art, science, journalism, and public life. As a non-profit organization, we are committed to various projects in the fields of art, culture, and civil society for a pluralistic society where diversity is recognized as a strength. In particular, our association stands for the promotion of people with migration and refugee backgrounds, enabling them to actively shape society.

We are convinced that belonging should be defined solely through joint action and speaking. Those who are present belong. To come closer to this claim, we create equal opportunities for encounters and access. In our cultural and dialogue projects, we open spaces, improve job opportunities, create educational offerings, and promote networking. We strengthen individual resources and advocate for a community-promoting exchange.

In many projects, we work with the principle of tandem: We connect newly arrived people with partners who already have a network, spaces, and know-how in Germany – and who can benefit from the new perspectives and migration stories in return. We design the tandem work as an equal, open exchange that enriches all participants.

As an intersectional feminist association, we particularly advocate for the empowerment and participation of women and queer individuals with migration and refugee backgrounds, as they are especially affected by social marginalization.

We are an interdisciplinary team of people with and without migration and refugee backgrounds, possessing competencies and expertise in the artistic, journalistic, academic, and non-profit management fields. Together, we develop and implement projects with a proven balance of creativity and humanity.
