Watch Indonesia

Watch Indonesia e.V. is a German association, founded in 1991 in response to the massacre at the Santa Cruz cemetery in East Timor. The association was initiated by Indonesians and Germans in Berlin and serves as a bridge between Indonesian and East Timorese civil societies. The main mission of Watch Indonesia is to support the adherence to human rights, the promotion of democratization, the protection of the environment, and the peaceful resolution of conflicts.

• Publications and Information: The association regularly publishes materials such as the magazine Suara – Magazine for Indonesia and East Timor, human rights and background reports, as well as studies and analyses on various topics.

Watch Indonesia focuses on several sustainable goals and initiatives:

• Environmental and Climate Justice: The association warns of the social, human rights, and ecological consequences of the exploitation of nature through palm oil monocultures, mining, the paper industry, and forestry.
• Peace Promotion and Conflict Prevention: Particularly in West Papua and Aceh, the association advocates for dialogical solutions to conflicts and the consolidation of peace.
• Urban Development and Urban Transformation: Watch Indonesia conducts projects that address ecological urban development, socially just and climate-neutral cities, such as the "Urban Transformation" project in Jakarta and Berlin.
