About Volkssolidarität Bundesverband e. V.
editThe Volkssolidarität Bundesverband e. V. is one of the largest social and welfare associations in East Germany, which has been committed to a social, democratic, and diverse society for almost 80 years. With over 13,000 full-time and volunteer employees, the organization cares for and supports nearly 100,000 people in various life situations every day. The approximately 109,000 members form the foundation of Volkssolidarität and actively contribute to the realization of its goals.
Key Products and Services
editVolkssolidarität offers a wide range of social services aimed at people of all ages and backgrounds. These include, among others:
- Senior Care and Nursing: Residential and nursing facilities for older people as well as mobile social assistance services.
- Child and Youth Welfare: Facilities and programs to support children, adolescents, and families.
- Social Counseling: Support in social and financial matters.
- Emergency Call and Meals on Wheels: Safety and supply services for people who need support in their homes.
Mission and Values
editThe mission of Volkssolidarität is to live solidarity and promote active membership. The association advocates for the interests of disadvantaged and needy people and follows the guiding principle "Together – For Each Other. Live Solidarity." The values of the organization are based on social justice, equal opportunities, and the promotion of social cohesion.
Sustainability Goals and Initiatives
editVolkssolidarität is actively engaged in sustainable social reforms and advocates for a just and inclusive society. Current initiatives include:
- Sustainable Care Reform: Demands for reforms that address social assistance dependency and underprovision in the care sector.
- Initiative #ZukunftKitaOst: Collaboration with other organizations to strengthen childcare in East Germany.
- Poverty Research: Participation in projects researching nutritional poverty among older people.
Commitment and Social Responsibility
editVolkssolidarität is not only active in social services but also in social policy work. It brings its perspectives into political discussions and advocates for equal living conditions and greater social cohesion. The association is part of the alliance "Solidarischer Herbst" and is involved in various social movements and projects.
With nearly 1,000 facilities and just as many social services, Volkssolidarität is primarily active in the new federal states and offers a variety of opportunities for volunteer engagement and membership.
