editThe Verkehr und Wasser Oldenburg GmbH (VWG) is the bus company for Oldenburg and an important part of public transport (ÖPNV) in the region. In addition to bus transport, the VWG is also involved in the field of drinking water supply.
The core business of the VWG is the provision of a reliable and comprehensive bus network in Oldenburg. This includes day and night lines, which ensure high mobility for citizens. The VWG offers a variety of tickets, including SingleTickets, TimeTickets, the Deutschland-Ticket as well as special offers such as the SchülerTicket, JobTicket and the "Samstags einfach Bus fahren"-Ticket (SEB).
The VWG strives to continuously improve and make public transport in Oldenburg more attractive. This includes service improvements in the route network. An important aspect is accessibility, to enable all passengers to use the bus service comfortably. In addition, the VWG is involved in projects such as rollator training and bus schools to strengthen the safety and confidence of passengers.
As part of the Verkehrsverbund Bremen/Niedersachsen (VBN), the VWG enables the use of the entire VBN area with its tickets. This promotes environmentally friendly mobility throughout the region.
In addition to bus transport, the VWG also offers car sharing and a bicycle rental system to promote multimodal mobility.
The VWG is aware of its responsibility for the environment and is committed to sustainable public transport. An important step in this direction is the planned introduction of free local transport on Saturdays from 2025 for all passengers in price level I (Oldenburg). This is intended to make switching to public transport more attractive and contribute to reducing individual transport.
