Universitätsallianz UA 11

The University Alliance 11+ (UA11+) is a dynamic association of currently 15 medium-sized, research- and transfer-strong universities in Germany. This alliance was founded to make the specific interests and strengths of its member universities visible and to represent them to politics and the public.

The UA11+ includes universities from eight federal states, including Bielefeld, Greifswald, TU Kaiserslautern, Magdeburg, Paderborn, Passau, Potsdam, Universität des Saarlandes, Trier, Ulm, Wuppertal, and Siegen. These universities are distinguished not only by their internationally visible research excellence but also by their supporting roles in structural development, economic promotion, and innovation competence in their respective regions[2][3].

The main mission of UA11+ is to promote the general idealistic and strategic interests of its members in all areas of education, science, research, and teaching. The association aims to strengthen Germany's position in science and research in the international context by maintaining the entire breadth of the university landscape and further developing it through tailored framework conditions. The board of UA11+ consists of experienced university leaders, including Prof. Oliver Günther (President of the University of Potsdam) as the 1st Chair, Prof. Dr. Katharina Riedel (Rector of the University of Greifswald) as the 2nd Chair, and Prof. (HSG) Dr. Sascha Spoun (President of Leuphana University Lüneburg) as Treasurer. The association has its own office in Berlin and is open to new members who meet the formulated requirements[2][3].
