Furthermore, the association aims to secure the entire site as a cultural special area, similar to the opposite Uferstudios, which have obtained a hereditary building right for 198 years[1].

Since the takeover of the site by an investor group of the Samwer brothers in 2017, the Uferhallen have faced significant challenges. The new owners planned a massive densification with multi-story new buildings, raising concerns about cultural and social open spaces. Therefore, Uferhallen e.V. advocates for a compromise that aligns the interests of artists and cultural creators with the plans of the investors. Following the unilateral termination of the B-Plan process by the owners in January 2023, the association continues to work towards securing the cultural venue through discussions with the district and the Senate[1][2][3].
