Terre des Hommes

Terre des Hommes Deutschland e.V. is an international children's rights organization that has been advocating for the rights and well-being of children and young people since 1967. Our name, "Terre des Hommes," means "Earth of Humanity" and reflects our vision of a world where all children are protected and their rights are respected.

• Humanitarian Aid and Project Work: We promote around 400 projects in 47 countries aimed at improving the living conditions of children, protecting them from violence and exploitation, and enforcing their rights[3][5].
• Partnership Collaboration: We work closely with local partner organizations, the international youth network, and volunteer members to create a livable future for children[3][4].
• Education and Empowerment: Our programs focus on the health of children and mothers, the migration of children and young people, and access to justice. We support children in expressing their needs and interests and promote their active participation in their community[5].

Our mission is to protect the lives of children and their rights and to promote their well-being. We are independent of governments, businesses, religious communities, and political parties and pursue a partnership-based, participatory, and sustainable approach.

• Every Child Counts: Together with children, we advocate for their rights worldwide and empower them against climate change, child labor, war, and displacement[3].
• Solidarity and Commitment: Through solidarity, commitment, and financial support, we empower children and young people with the goal of an Earth of Humanity[3].
• Sustainability: We promote projects for the protection and lasting improvement of the living conditions of children[3].

• Global Justice and Climate Justice: We work for social cohesion, global justice, and climate justice to create a dignified future for all[4].
• Humanitarian Aid: We provide humanitarian aid in war-torn countries, regions affected by natural disasters, and places where poverty and malnutrition prevail[5].
• Empowerment of Children and Young People: We empower children and young people in their right to participate and support them in advocating for their rights. It is particularly important to us to amplify the voices of discriminated and marginalized children and young people[3].

Terre des Hommes Deutschland e.V. is organized as a registered association. The general assembly is the highest body, which elects the executive board every three years and the auditors every two years. The executive board oversees the strategic direction and business policy, while the full-time board manages the affairs of the association[2].

With our work and values, we are committed to a world where all children have guaranteed survival, no children are exploited, all children have educational and development opportunities, and children's rights are realized.
