Tactical Tech is an international, creative non-profit organization with over two decades of experience dedicated to exploring the socio-political and ecological impacts of technology on society. Our goal is to empower individuals and communities to navigate the challenges and opportunities of digital transformation and to create fairer, more democratic, and sustainable societies.

Tactical Tech develops creative, educational interventions and resources to promote critical thinking about the impacts of technology. Our key projects include:

• The Glass Room: An interactive exhibition that highlights the effects of digital technologies on personal and societal life.
• Data Detox Kit: A practical guide that helps users improve their digital security, privacy, and well-being.
• Our Data Our Selves: A project that examines the use of personal data in informal and formal political processes and analyzes the impacts on citizens and civil society[2][5].

Our mission is to empower individuals and communities to shape the social, political, and ecological future societies in the context of digital transformation. We are committed to promoting knowledge, critical thinking, and capacity building to explore and mitigate the social, economic, ecological, and cultural impacts of digital technologies[1][2].

Tactical Tech focuses on three central themes:

• Information Crisis: Addressing the changing digital information landscape, from misinformation to political influence and targeting.
• Personal Data: Investigating the impacts of the extensive use of personal data on agency, inclusion, and justice.
• Techno-fixes: Exploring the use of digital technologies to solve and control major environmental and social issues[1].

We emphasize the importance of partnerships and work closely with a global network of partners in education, culture, independent media, civil society, and relevant decision-makers to achieve sustainable impacts. Our resources and interventions are open, adaptable, scalable, and localizable, allowing our partners to tailor them to their specific needs[2].

Tactical Tech has built a global presence over the past two decades, with initiatives in at least 90 countries and over 500 partners involved in our shared journey. We have directly reached over 30 million people and engaged them in conversations about the impacts of technology on their lives, their societies, and democracy. Our educational resources are available in 45 languages, and we have conducted over 1000 events worldwide[2].
