About Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) Germany
editThe Sustainable Development Solutions Network Germany (SDSN Germany) is a network funded by the federal government that is dedicated to promoting sustainable development in Germany, Europe, and worldwide. As part of the global SDSN, which was founded in 2012 under the auspices of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, SDSN Germany brings together leading scientific organizations, civil society, and the economy to develop innovative solutions for the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as well as the Paris Climate Agreement.
Mission and Values
editThe main mission of SDSN Germany is to provide independent, knowledge-based policy advice that covers all dimensions of sustainability. The network promotes dialogue and collaboration among relevant stakeholders and policymakers to develop sustainable solutions across disciplinary and sectoral boundaries. The values of SDSN Germany are based on promoting science, policy, and society to work together towards a sustainable future.
Key Products and Services
editSDSN Germany offers a platform for the exchange of knowledge and experiences through innovative dialogue and cooperation formats. It organizes events, publishes scientific publications, and provides policy advice to accelerate the implementation of the SDGs. Sustainability Goals and Initiatives
editA central concern of SDSN Germany is the reduction of negative spillover effects that hinder the achievement of the SDGs in other countries, particularly in the Global South. The network is committed to understanding, measuring, and managing the global impacts of the actions of industrialized countries like Germany. SDSN Germany actively engages in international events such as the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development and the SDG Summit to promote global responsibility and advance the 2030 Agenda.
Leadership and Organization
editThe chairs of the steering committee of SDSN Germany are Prof. Dr. Anna-Katharina Hornidge and Prof. Dr. Gesine Schwan. The secretariat is located at the German Institute of Development and Sustainability (IDOS) in Bonn. SDSN Germany is part of a global network dedicated to promoting sustainable development through scientific excellence and international cooperation.
