Deutsche Oper Berlin, founded over a hundred years ago in Charlottenburg, is a significant center for modern music theater. Under the direction of General Music Director Sir Donald Runnicles, the orchestra of Deutsche Oper Berlin has established itself as one of the outstanding orchestras in the country. International guest performances, such as at the Musikfest Berlin, the BBC Proms, and the Edinburgh International Festival, underscore the global significance of the house. The choir of Deutsche Oper Berlin has been awarded "Choir of the Year" multiple times, highlighting the high quality of the musical performances.
