About Stiftung OFFSHORE-WINDENERGIE
editThe Stiftung OFFSHORE-WINDENERGIE was founded in 2005 at the initiative of the Ministry of the Environment and has established itself as a non-partisan, regional, and independent institution for the promotion of offshore wind energy. It serves as a central platform for the exchange and collaboration between stakeholders from politics, business, and science. The foundation aims to anchor offshore wind energy as a fixed component of the energy mix in Germany and Europe and to promote its expansion in the interest of environmental and climate protection.

editThe foundation offers a variety of services, including analysis and consulting on economic and energy policy developments as well as regulatory frameworks for offshore wind energy. It organizes committees and working groups to promote dialogue between different sectors and is engaged in educational and public relations work to raise awareness of renewable energies. A particular focus is on vocational education for children and young people to inspire them about climate change and renewable energies.
Mission and Values
editThe mission of the foundation is to support the offshore wind sector with all its individual sectors and interfaces. This is done by providing expertise, promoting contacts, and fostering committed interdisciplinary collaboration. The foundation operates regionally, non-partisan, cross-sectoral, and in the public interest to advance the development of offshore wind energy.
Sustainability Goals and Initiatives
editThe Stiftung OFFSHORE-WINDENERGIE actively works towards achieving the expansion targets for offshore wind energy set out in the Offshore Wind Energy Act. By 2030, the installed capacity is to be increased to at least 30 GW, by 2035 to at least 50 GW, and by 2045 to at least 70 GW. To achieve these goals, the foundation works closely with the Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency to designate new areas for expansion. Additionally, the foundation is involved in projects such as the Interreg project BOWE2H, which promotes the integration of offshore wind energy and hydrogen production.
The Stiftung OFFSHORE-WINDENERGIE is a think tank dedicated to the sustainable development of offshore wind energy and serves as a voice for the industry. Through its work, it significantly contributes to the energy transition and climate protection by promoting the use of renewable energies and developing innovative solutions for the challenges of the future.
