editThe Stiftung Naturlandschaften Brandenburg, also known as The Wilderness Foundation, is dedicated to the protection and promotion of wilderness areas in Germany. Since its founding in 2000 by private and public partners, the foundation has acquired over 14,400 hectares of former military training grounds in Brandenburg and is developing them into unique wilderness areas. These areas, including Jüterbog, Heidehof, Lieberose, and Tangersdorf, are not only significant nature conservation areas but also FFH and SPA areas that host a variety of rare animal and plant species.
Mission and Values
editThe main mission of the foundation is to protect and connect large wilderness areas to allow nature to develop freely. This significantly contributes to the preservation of biodiversity. The foundation aims to create the primeval forests of tomorrow and to bring people closer to the importance and beauty of undisturbed nature.
