The Hamburg
The Hamburger Stiftung Asien-Brücke was founded in spring 2005 by the Senate and the Bürgerschaft of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg. The foundation's headquarters is located in Hamburg.
The main mission of the foundation is to support the development work carried out in Hamburg on a personal or institutional level in Asia, to establish it on a sustainable basis, and to raise public awareness of it. The foundation advocates for sustainable development in Asian countries and promotes projects initiated by Hamburg citizens and institutions.
The foundation works closely with the development policy and institutional network of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg. It identifies projects worthy of funding, increases attention to issues of development cooperation in Hamburg, and promotes dialogue between associations and institutions in Asia and Hamburg.

The foundation council, which advises and supervises the board, includes representatives from Hamburg politics, Asia experts, development aid specialists, and representatives of donors.
The foundation promotes projects that are based in Hamburg or have a strong connection to Hamburg. Interested parties can submit proposals and applications for projects worthy of funding that must comply with the foundation's guidelines.
