    About us

    The Silent Green cultural quarter is a unique venue and independent project that has been housed in the historic premises of the former crematorium in Berlin-Wedding since 2013.

    Key products and services

    • Event spaces: The Silent Green offers a variety of event spaces, including the historic dome hall, the underground concrete hall and the studio house with five other multiple usable spaces. These conferences are used for concerts, lectures, film screenings, rooms, seminars and workshops.
    • Creative infrastructure: On 6,000 square meters, the cultural campus brings together around 100 creative and creative professionals, including institutions such as the Musicboard Berlin, the K7 Label, the Harun Farocki Institute and the Arsenal Institute for Film and Video Arts e.V.
    • Gastronomy: The in-house restaurant, MARS | Café & Bar, offers a quiet place for informal exchange between tenants, audience and residents.

    Silent Green strives to create a platform for interdisciplinary and transformative work, promoting the emergence of new, hybrid forms by overcoming the boundaries of individual artistic disciplines, diversity and openness to new formats are central values that enable exchange and experimentation between genres and audiences.

    Sustainability goals and initiatives

    The Silent Green pursues the goal of building a sustainable creative infrastructure in the wedding, which is firmly anchored in the neighborhood and at the same time a cultural attraction beyond Berlin. All revenues flow directly into the preservation of the place and the production of artistic and cultural projects. The monumental reconstruction of the former crematorium was carried out in close consultation with the monument protection authorities in order to preserve the historical substance.

    Current projects and initiatives

    • Film Research Field: A centre for moving image art dedicated to the forms and edges of documentary narrative, with exhibition projects, screenings and discursive formats. A forthcoming project is the group exhibition "UnNatural Encounters" in cooperation with the European Media Art Platform and transmediale.
    • Guided tours: Historical tours of the former crematorium, which illuminate the exciting history of the place and its transformation into a Silent Green.[1][2]

    The Silent Green cultural quarter is a vibrant place of creative encounter and participation, creating networks and communication spaces between practice and theory, research and application, production and presentation.
