Save the Children

Save the Children Deutschland e.V. is the German branch of the international non-governmental organization Save the Children, which was founded in 1919 by Eglantyne Jebb in London. As the largest independent children's rights organization in the world, Save the Children works in around 120 countries and advocates for the well-being and rights of children worldwide.

Our mission is to create a world where all children can live healthy and safe lives and grow up in a self-determined manner. We stand firmly by the side of children and their families in need, regardless of faith, origin, gender, or other characteristics. Human and children's rights are non-negotiable for us, and we advocate for the rights and interests of children at the political level – in Germany and worldwide[4].

• Education and Development Cooperation: We promote educational programs and work towards the sustainable improvement of the living conditions of children and their families.
• Health Assistance: We provide medical care and support in combating diseases and malnutrition.
• Disaster Relief: We provide humanitarian emergency assistance in cases of need and disaster, such as wars, natural disasters, and epidemics.
• Child Protection: We protect children from abuse, exploitation, and violence and advocate for their safety.
• Refugee Care: We support displaced children and families in war zones and other crisis situations[1][3][4].

• Creating a Fair Society: We advocate for equal and fair living conditions for all individuals, regardless of gender, skin color, religion, or other characteristics.
• Helping People: We provide support in emergency situations and work to ensure that people can live in a dignified environment again.
• Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI): We establish DEI as a common attitude to reach particularly vulnerable children and promote an inclusive society[2][4].

Save the Children Deutschland e.V. has been a holder of the DZI Donation Seal since 2011 and meets strict standards regarding transparency, management, and effectiveness of resource use. We are signatories of the Initiative Transparent Civil Society and document our work, structures, and finances openly and comprehensively[1][4].

With our work, we strive to permanently improve the lives of children and strengthen their rights worldwide.
