Ruhr-Universität Bochum (RUB) is one of the leading universities in Germany, known for its diverse and excellent study and research offerings. It offers a wide range of courses in various fields, from the natural and engineering sciences to the humanities and social sciences. Through its membership in the Ruhr University Alliance (UA Ruhr) together with the University of Dortmund and the University of Duisburg-Essen, the RUB enables its students a comprehensive and networked education.

The RUB has set up a Sustainability Task Force, headed by Rector Prof. Dr. Martin Paul and Sustainability Officer Prof. Dr. Andreas Löschel. This Task Force develops a strategy and implementation plan, which is implemented in close consultation with the entire university community.

The RUB is part of the Universitätsallianz Ruhr, which promotes close cooperation in research, teaching and administration with the TU Dortmund and the University of Duisburg-Essen. This alliance allows universities to pool their strengths and work together on pressing future issues. The Research Alliance Ruhr, which also includes four research centers and a humanities and social sciences college, marks a beacon in the knowledge metropolis of the Ruhr and offers outstanding scientists an attractive research environment.

The international networking of the RUB is also an important aspect. The university cooperates with universities and research institutes worldwide and has already established a joint liaison office in New York in 2004. Numerous programmes promote international exchange and the range of English-language courses is growing continuously.
