About Ring deutscher Pfadfinder*innenverbände e.V.
editThe Ring deutscher Pfadfinderinnenverbände e.V. (rdp) is the umbrella organization of the five recognized scout associations in Germany, which together represent the interests of around 170,000 members. These associations are the Bund der Pfadfinderinnen und Pfadfinder, die Deutsche Pfadfinderschaft Sankt Georg, die Pfadfinderinnenschaft St. Georg, der Verband Christlicher Pfadfinderinnen and the Bund Muslimischer Pfadfinderinnen und Pfadfinder Deutschlands. The rdp is actively engaged in youth policy and advocates for the concerns of children and young people in public.
Mission and Values
editThe main mission of the rdp is to promote young people in their personal development and to educate them as responsible citizens who actively shape the world. The association places great importance on the principles of equality, social justice, and democratic participation. The work of the rdp is based on the principles of the scouting method, which relies on the guiding principles of "Learning by doing" and "Learning democracy through action." These approaches promote self-organization, co-determination, and responsibility among young people.
Sustainability Goals and Initiatives
editSustainability and environmental protection are central themes in the rdp. The association promotes awareness of ecological responsibility through practical activities such as litter collection campaigns and living in and with nature during camps and trips. The rdp supports the goals of sustainable development and integrates them into its educational work. Additionally, the association is engaged in international cooperation to address global challenges such as injustice and poverty.
Diverse Topics and Projects
editThe rdp is active in numerous areas, including youth policy, international cooperation, work with refugees, and the fight against sexualized violence. A special highlight is the annual Peace Light, which serves as a symbol for peace and international understanding. The association also organizes events such as Thinking Day, which celebrates the global connectedness of the scouting movement.
Commitment to All
editThe rdp stands for inclusion and diversity. In the groups of the member associations, children and young people are welcome regardless of their national, religious, ethnic, or social background. The association is a member of the international scouting organizations WAGGGS and WOSM and promotes education for peace as well as the reduction of injustice worldwide.
The Ring deutscher Pfadfinder*innenverbände e.V. is thus not only a union of scout associations but also an active shaper of youth policy and a promoter of sustainable development and social justice.
