About RENN – Regional Networks for Sustainability Strategies
editRENN – Regional Networks for Sustainability Strategies is a nationwide network dedicated to promoting sustainable development in Germany. With four regional networks – RENN.nord, RENN.mitte, RENN.süd, and RENN.west – RENN connects actors from civil society, business, and politics to promote the implementation of the 17 global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the UN Agenda 2030.

editRENN provides a platform for the exchange of knowledge and experiences in the field of sustainability. The networks support through information and networking work, offer training and workshops, and promote the development and implementation of sustainable projects. Offerings include, among others, the FutureResearchers Toolkit, the simulation game "Pitch Your Green Idea," and the online platform Volunty.

editThe main mission of RENN is to make sustainable development a lived practice at the regional level. The network is committed to strengthening societal transformation towards more sustainability. Values such as cooperation, innovation, and social cohesion are at the forefront. RENN promotes the active participation of all societal actors to jointly develop solutions for the challenges of the future.
Sustainability Goals and Initiatives
editRENN is actively engaged in the implementation of the SDGs and supports projects that contribute to achieving these goals. The networks work to anchor sustainability strategies at the federal, state, and municipal levels. Initiatives such as the campaign "Goals Need Actions" in the sports sector or the promotion of plastic-free companies are examples of RENN's commitment. Additionally, topics such as sustainable building and living, biodiversity, and social-ecological transformation are brought into focus.
Regional Focus Areas
editEach of the four RENN regions has specific focus areas and projects tailored to regional needs and challenges. RENN.nord focuses on networking in the northern German states, while RENN.mitte provides impulses for strong sustainability in Brandenburg, Berlin, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, and Thuringia. RENN.süd promotes activities in Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria, and RENN.west shapes sustainability processes in North Rhine-Westphalia, Hesse, Rhineland-Palatinate, and Saarland.
Through cross-border collaboration and the exchange of best practices, RENN contributes to making sustainable development a lived reality in Germany. The network is an important player in promoting sustainability and offers diverse opportunities for co-design and participation.
