Regionalwert Research gGmbH, founded in August 2022 in Leipzig, is a non-profit think tank dedicated to strengthening sustainable economics in the agricultural and food economy. The mission of the company is to promote science, practice and education and to integrate sustainability into entrepreneurial accounting. The focus is on the development and application of methods that enable the measurement, evaluation and accounting of sustainability at company level.

Regional Research offers a variety of innovative approaches and tools to support sustainable business:

• Sustainable Performance Accounting: a method that extends the classical financial performance accounting to the dimensions of ecology, knowledge and society. This approach is implemented in projects such as QuartaVista and Neue Wege Leipzig.[1][3][4]
• QuartaVista: A digital instrument that improves corporate governance, planning and balancing by integrating ecological, social, knowledge-based and regional economic performance factors.[3]
• Neue Wege Leipzig: a project that promotes bio-regional value chains in the Leipzig area and strengthens sustainable food sovereignty through the networking of agriculture, bundling and community gastronomy. It includes the development of a monitoring system that determines the status quo of value creation levels and provides recommendations based on the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
• True Cost Accounting: A method that makes positive and negative external effects in price and balance sheet visible and is used in projects such as Neue Wege Leipzig[2].

Regionalwert Research is strongly committed to promoting sustainable practices and is committed to various sustainability goals:

• Integration of sustainability into the accounting of success: Through the development and application of Sustainable Performance Accounting and True Cost Accounting, sustainability-related damages and benefits are integrated into the measurement of entrepreneurial success.
• Bio-regional value chains: The Neue Wege Leipzig project aims to build and strengthen bio-regional value chains in order to promote regional food sovereignty and increase the availability of bio-regional products.
• UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): The projects of Regional Value Research are oriented towards the SDGs, in particular goals such as ensuring sustainable food production, promoting health and well-being and creating decent work.

The team of Regionalwert Research is led by Dr. Jenny Lay-Kumar, who has over 30 years of experience in the field of environmental protection and sustainable economics. The company's shareholders are Regionalwert AG Freiburg and Regionalwert AG Hamburg. Regionalwert Research works closely with universities, such as the University of Kassel-Witzenhausen, and other expert partners, to develop innovative solutions.

Through its research and development, Regionalwert Research makes an important contribution to strengthening sustainable economic practices in the agricultural and food sectors and promotes the integration of sustainability into all aspects of entrepreneurial activity.
