Ostwuerttemberg

The Regionalverband Ostwürttemberg is an organization committed to the development and progress of the Ostwürttemberg region. The region comprises 53 municipalities and is known for its diverse landscape and economic dynamism.

The main mission of the Regionalverband is to promote the spatial development of the region and to create a sustainable foundation for economy, environment and society. Values such as sustainability, cooperation and regional identity are at the forefront of its activities.

The Regionalverband Ostwürttemberg is primarily responsible for the creation and implementation of the regional plan. This plan defines the long-term development of the region and includes aspects such as land use, transport, energy and agriculture.

An important focus of the Regionalverband is the promotion of sustainable development. This includes the expansion of renewable energies, the protection of agricultural land and the safeguarding of air corridors. The Regional Plan 2035, which was adopted in July 2024, sets clear goals for the responsible use of land and the expansion of transport infrastructure.

The Regionalverband Ostwürttemberg is continuously working to make the region fit for future challenges. This includes the creation of a joint upper center in a network structure of the cities Aalen, Schwäbisch Gmünd, Heidenheim and Ellwangen. These initiatives are intended to strengthen the economic and ecological development of the region while improving the quality of life of the residents.
