editThe Oberfinanzdirektion Baden-Württemberg (OFD) is a central state intermediate authority in the area of tax administration. It was founded in 1826 as the tax directorate of the Grand Duchy of Baden and has since developed continuously. Since 2005, the OFD has been the only intermediate authority of the tax administration in Baden-Württemberg and since 2008 a purely state authority[1][3].

editThe OFD exercises service and technical supervision over 65 tax offices and six state building authorities. Its main tasks include tax collection, the administration of tax matters and supporting the tax offices in their work. The authority also offers digital services such as the ELSTER program for electronic tax returns[2][3].
