The netzwerk n e.V. is a registered non-profit association that has been committed to promoting sustainability and climate protection at universities since its founding in December 2010 as part of the UN Decade "Education for Sustainable Development." Founded by young actors such as Hannes Bever, Robin Koerth, Verena Salomon, and Mandy Singer-Brodowski, the association has developed into a central networking platform for students, doctoral candidates, and young professionals.

Our mission is to transform universities into learning institutions that participatively question the causes of current and future societal and ecological phenomena and develop sustainable solutions. We understand sustainable universities as institutions that actively shape transformation processes to consider and weigh the consequences for current and future generations[4].

Our code of conduct serves as a binding foundation for our work and collaboration by formulating values and attitudes that guide our decisions and actions[4].

• Networking Platforms: We offer digital and physical platforms to enable networking, knowledge, and experience exchange. The platform plattform n connects over 11,500 members and more than 174 sustainability initiatives[3].
• Conferences and Networking Meetings: Regular conferences such as konferenz n and regional networking meetings promote exchange and collaboration among members[2][3].
• Coaching and Workshops: Our offerings include coaching programs, workshops, and discussion series that support students and university members in making their institutions more sustainable. Examples include the Wandercoaching program and the Future Forum for Climate-Friendly Universities[2][3].
• Educational Materials and Good Practices: Our media library offers a variety of educational materials and good practice collections that present inspiring examples of sustainable university initiatives nationwide[2].

The netzwerk n is engaged in various areas of sustainability:

• Climate Protection: Projects such as the Future Forum for Climate-Friendly Universities support smaller and medium-sized universities in developing holistic climate protection concepts[2].
• Holistic Transformation: We work on the transformation of learning and teaching environments, the development of competencies among educators and multipliers, and the strengthening and mobilization of youth within the framework of the World Action Program "Education for Sustainable Development"[1].
• International Networking: Through projects like Mutual Challenges, Mutual Responsibilities with an NGO in Belarus, we promote international exchange and collaboration[4].

The netzwerk n is in structured exchange with many national and European networks, associations, and foundations. We work closely with actors such as the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), the German UNESCO Commission, and the Council for Sustainable Development. Our work has been awarded multiple times, including within the framework of the World Action Program "Education for Sustainable Development"[1][3].
